Mindfreak

Last weekend, my family took our trip to Vegas to see the Criss Angel/Cirque du Soleil show "Believe". We had such a good time! I was really sad to see the weekend end! We headed down Friday morning. We stopped and picked up Mikayle at her house in St. George on the way. Friday night, we went to my favorite place to eat in all of Las Vegas...the World Buffet at the Rio! I love that place! So we went there and then did a little gambling in the casino at the Rio. Micheal and Mandi had tickets to Phantom that night, so they did their thing while we did ours. My mom and dad rented a condo through their timeshare. So we headed back to the condo and me, my mom, Micheal and Mandi stayed up and played Uno and drank some pomegranate martinis until about 2 in the morning. Saturday, we got up and went over to the lobby and had some breakfast. After breakfast, we walked over to the Strip and did a little shopping. After shopping, we headed back to the condo and got ready for the show. We had dinner at the Luxor in the little cafe in the hotel. After that, we had some time to kill, so we did a little gambling before we went to the show. The show started at 10 pm...a little late for my liking, but definitely worth the wait! The show was amazing! I loved every second of it! It combined Criss Angel's illusions, with the crazy talent of Cirque, and the awesome choreography of Wade Robson. I LOVED it! I think it was very different from what anybody anticipated, so everyone had varied opinions on it, but I thought it was incredible and would recommend it to anyone! Unfortunately, we couldn't take any pictures in the show, so I don't have anything from there. But, here are a few other highlights from the trip...

Thank you, mom and dad, for giving us such an awesome Christmas present! We had such a good time, just relaxing and spending time the the family. It is definitely a trip we will never forget! Love you guys!

Scary...

So at about 1:00 this morning, I woke up to Scott rolling around complaining about really bad stomach pain. I asked him where it was hurting and he said it was in his lower right side. Of course, I thought for sure it was appendicitis. Well, right after that, he went in the bathroom and started throwing up. After that, I decided we for sure needed to go to the ER. So we packed up in the car and headed out. As soon as we got there, they took him right back to a room and checked his vitals, got him hooked up to an IV with some fluids and pain meds. They got his blood drawn and sent to the lab and the doctor came in to see him, all within a matter of about 30 minutes. I was really impressed by how quickly they took care of him. So the doctor examined him and right off the bat said he was positive it was kidney stones, but he wanted to send him for a CT to make sure that's what it was. So they did the CT, and sure enough, it was kidney stones. He had one that was in the midst of passing from the kidney into his bladder, and that is what was causing the pain. He also has a bladder infection, which they said is pretty common with kidney stones. So they sent him home with some prescriptions for pain meds and antibiotics and said the stone should pass within the next few hours. Well, it did pass at about 3:00 this afternoon. He is doing so much better since it passed. I really hope that he doesn't continue getting these. This was really one of the scariest things I have ever been through and I never want to have to do it again. I am just glad Scott is doing alright now.

The Holidays

I can't believe the holidays have already come and gone! I am sad they are over, but really, happy to have the mess cleaned up and be back in a somewhat normal routine! Sad thing is, I forgot to take a camera everywhere we went, so I had to steal pictures from my sis! Christmas was a great day...aside from the ridiculously massive snow storm that decided to hit before we drove home that night! This year I decided it was time to start our own Christmas traditions. So on Christmas morning, we woke up around 8 and opened up our presents, just the three of us. Scott got me a new MP3 player (which I needed desparately for my teaching ventures), a new book, some new earphones, and Will & Grace season 8. I got him a new computer moniter and some clothes. Then we had Scott's sisters and their families over for Christmas breakfast and more presents. We had a ton of food! It was really good and it's always nice to get his whole family together. Although we all live within a block of each other, we never see them!

After breakfast, we got cleaned up and headed down to Salt Lake. By this time, it had stopped snowing...at least long enough for us to get to Salt Lake! We went to my parents house first and opened presents with just my parents and my sibs. That was fun! My parents got us all a trip to Las Vegas to go see Criss Angel's show "Believe". So we are doing that at the end of this month! I am stoked! My mom had Amber make up a little puzzle that we had to solve to find out what our Christmas present was. Puzzles are always fun!

On a side note, my mom bought my dad a new gun for Christmas. All day, he walked around saying "I can't believe she actually bought me a gun"! He is hilarious!

After my parents, we went over to Gramma Red's house for more presents and dinner....something we do every year! My gram's is always an adventure! Good food, good family! And I love this kid......

As I get older, I learn to appreciate these times in a different way. It becomes less about stuff and more about spending time with my family and the people I love most. It makes me miss the old days, waking up on Christmas morning at my mom and dad's, with my brother and sister there, and opening up gifts as our little family! I value the time I get to spend with my family so much anymore. Living so far away (seems like it's far sometimes!), I miss seeing their faces everyday! Since my sister moved to St. George, I have learned how much I love her humor and just her company. So it is nice to have these times, when my siblings are around, and the whole family can find the time to get together and just enjoy each others company! Simple as that! I love these kids too!
Another side note....we are not all a bunch of alcoholics! Ha ha!
